Moitié Mirabelle French Spotify Playlist
Cliché as it may be, my memories of Paris are all accompanied by a soundtrack of a melancholy accordion drifting through the tunnels in the Metro playing Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel or Aznavour. Rarely have I ever actually seen the owner of the accordion, the one playing the music, but a trip to Paris just isn't complete without the echoing sound of those far off notes.
As I mentioned in my last post, music just like food and smells can transport me back to France instantly. But more than that my favorite French music just makes me feel warm and good all over. I love listening to French music when I'm cooking dinner, sipping a nice glass of wine. It is my idea of the perfect relaxing evening and it is a great way to be surrounded by the language in a more subtle fashion than reading a French book or watching a movie.
I have amassed quite a collection of French music over the years but honestly, most of the time I just can't be bothered by all of my CDs. These days I typically turn to some sort of streaming service like Spotify or Pandora. The problem that I have with these is that it can be hard to find a good station with the French music that I love. And going the route of traditional French radio stations doesn't work either because they tend to play too much American pop for my taste.
My solution: I finally got off my lazy fesses (bum) and started creating some French playlists of my own. If you are like me and have been searching for some great French tunes to help you relax, to fill your nostalgic void, or even to play at your 14 juillet party this year, try out my Moitié Mirabelle Home Grooves playlist on Spotify. It's a collection of many of my favorite mellow songs that I'm sure I will continue adding to. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Give it a listen and let me know what you think. And if you have some song recommendations that aren't on there please share them in the comments. I'm always on the lookout for new, great music!
Bonus note: One of my favorite French artists is Francis Cabrel and his best music is not available to listen to on Spotify. If you want to purchase some of his CDs (and help support my blog a tiny bit) you can click here and use my Amazon affiliate link to his page. I highly recommend L'essentiel, which is a compilation of his hits over the years or Samedi Soir Sur La Terre!
